BLACK HISTORY MONTH AT THE BOYS’ PREP

Posted: 19th November 2020

In the month of October, we celebrated Black History Month. It was a chance for us to celebrate the achievements of black people, and recognise their contributions throughout history.

The boys made fact files, wrote poems, read stories, took part in cultural workshops, and learnt African dance. Each year group chose a specific significant black person to research, then they presented their learning within their year groups. We discussed the term ‘fairness’ and what this means in the context of race. It was so lovely to see how fully engaged the boys were, and how they showed maturity in their understanding of global issues. While our learning only took place over a month, the boys are excited and eager to continue learning about black history throughout different strands of the curriculum.
