Eliana, Year 5, is wearing a rather unique outfit for International Languages Week. It is a ‘kroi’, which is a traditional outfit from what was once Czechoslovakia.
The kroi was traditionally worn on special occasions like saint’s days and holidays. The photos attached are from the late 1930s through to 1945, which show Eliana’s family wearing their krois for national holidays. One photo, which shows Eliana’s granny kissing a little ‘soldier’ boy, was taken on the day WW2 ended – it was in the papers in the country at the time.
