IAPS Golf Success for U11 Team

Posted: 7th May 2026

Our Under 11 golfers delivered an outstanding performance at the IAPS Golf Tournament, held on Wednesday, 29 April at Minchinhampton Golf Club.

The venue itself provided a fitting stage for such a prestigious event. Minchinhampton has previously hosted Regional Qualifying for The Open Championship and is one of only 13 courses across the UK to receive this honour, a testament to the exceptional quality of its facilities and the rich history of the 130-year-old club.

Travelling down a day early proved invaluable. The practice round on Tuesday allowed the boys to familiarise themselves with the course, and they arrived on competition day focused, confident, and ready to perform.

All three players rose to the occasion:

  • Atticus, who had never completed 18 holes prior to the practice round, showed tremendous determination and composure to score an impressive 20 points.
  • Samuel produced a superb round of 30 points, earning a highly commendable 10th place finish out of 36 competitors in the U11 category.
  • William had a truly exceptional day, shooting just 15 over par and finishing on 39 points. This outstanding performance saw him finish joint 1st alongside two other golfers—an incredible achievement at such a high-level competition featuring players from across the UK and overseas.

As a team, Surbiton High Boys’ Prep secured joint second place in the U11 category, marking a remarkable result at our very first IAPS golf event.

This was a fantastic experience for all involved and a reflection of both the boys’ talent and their commitment. Well done to the team and staff for their efforts across the two days, an achievement to be immensely proud of.
