Remembering David Hockney: A Legacy of Colour, Creativity and Inspiration

Posted: 17th June 2026

This week, we pause to reflect and honour the life and legacy of one of Britain’s most influential artists, David Hockney, who passed away this week. His vibrant vision and pioneering spirit have left an enduring mark on the world of art.

Our Year 4 boys paid their respects through their own creative journeys this term, drawing inspiration from Hockney’s work. From the sweeping landscapes of Garrowby Hill to the striking simplicity of The Bigger Splash, they have explored colour, perspective, and storytelling through his eyes.

We remember not only the artist, but also the joy, curiosity, and imagination he inspired within our school and across generations to see the world differently.

Thank you, David Hockney, for the beauty you brought into the world.
