A parent of a Year 6 girl shared a heartfelt and inspiring account of his upbringing in a Reform Jewish home in South Africa. He spoke openly about his childhood, describing the strong values and traditions that shaped him. While recalling the warmth and support of his family environment, he also reflected candidly on the challenges he faced, particularly experiences of prejudice and discrimination.
Mr Kling spoke honestly about the prejudices he encountered while growing up, and his openness made a strong and lasting impression on the Year 6 girls, who listened with great interest and engagement. He explained how, in a society where different groups were often treated unfairly, he learned the importance of tolerance, understanding and standing up for what is right.
His reflections highlighted the challenges of maintaining faith and identity in an often unwelcoming environment, while also emphasising hope, resilience and perseverance. The talk was both informative and deeply moving, encouraging the girls to reflect on the importance of empathy, respect and diversity. Mr Kling’s thoughtful and honest storytelling made the session a memorable and valuable learning experience for all.
