On Wednesday 5 June, a group of Year 2 pupils took part in the Surrey Starburst Cricket Festival at Epsom Cricket Club. During our journey to the cricket club, the girls were so excited and spent the whole journey singing songs to get them ready for their day.
When we arrived, the girls met the Surrey Cricket coaches and met lots of children from another school. Throughout the morning, the girls participated in a rotation of activities practicing new skills including bowling, batting and fielding. The group were introduced to overarm bowling, using their star shape technique and ended with a competition to see who could bowl to try and hit the stumps. The two schools were mixed up, so the girls got to make new friends and play cricket with new people. After lunch, the girls participated in a big group game to put all the skills they had learned throughout the day into practice.
The girls had a wonderful day in the sunshine and are excited to play more cricket in their Games lessons.
