On Wednesday 21 February 2024, I had the pleasure of attending a concert at the Royal College of Music. We experienced a variety of incredible brass performances, including the world premiere of an unforgettable tuba octet named ‘Incandenza’ where each tuba was placed around the room creating a beautiful sound from all angles.
Another notable piece was John William’s Summon the Heroes. Composed for the 1996 Olympics, this piece was an extremely impressive finale to the show, with the entirety of the previous performers joining together for the grand ending. Overall, it was a riveting show which I would definitely recommend to any brass player with an interest in music.
