OXBRIDGE SUCCESS FOR STUDENTS

Posted: 18th January 2019

In a year where independent schools are seeing a downturn in Oxbridge offers as the competitive environment increases, Surbiton High is delighted to have maintained its strong Oxbridge track record this year, with 9 girls receiving offers.

In recent years, approximately 10% of Surbiton High’s university applicants have received Oxbridge offers: an incredible achievement for our students and a tribute to the support they receive from staff.

It is also gratifying that, regardless of outcome, we saw a record number of 31 Oxbridge applicants this year; showing a confident, “have a go” attitude that characterises our students.

Rebecca Glover, Principal at Surbiton High School, said: “We are delighted to maintain our strong Oxbridge offers this year in what is already widely recognised as the most competitive year yet for local, independent school students applying to Oxford and Cambridge Universities.  With around 10% of university applicants receiving Oxbridge offers in the last two years, Surbiton is a school truly fulfilling its aim of being the school of first choice in South West London for an all-round education. Whether a student’s aspirations are academic, sporting, dramatic, charitable or all of the above, they can and do flourish in whatever they put their minds to.”
