Senior School FAQs

Is the Senior School for girls only?

Yes. Surbiton High follows a diamond model: boys and girls are taught in our separate Prep Schools in the early years, and from Year 7 the Senior School and Sixth Form are for girls. It means your daughter benefits from a learning environment shaped entirely around how girls learn, lead and thrive.

Which year groups and ages does the Senior School cover?

The Senior School educates girls from Year 7 through to Year 11 (ages 11 to 16), before they move up to our Sixth Form for A-Levels. The main entry points are at 11+ and 13+, with occasional places in other year groups. You can read about the 13+ route on our Year 9 entry process page.

How large are the classes, and will my daughter be known as an individual?

Class sizes are kept deliberately small so that every girl is known well by her teachers and tutor. Pastoral care is built around the individual, so academic progress and well-being are looked at together, not in isolation.

What academic results does the Senior School achieve?

What co-curricular opportunities are on offer?

A great deal happens beyond the classroom — sport, music, drama, dance, art, clubs and trips all run throughout the week. Every girl has a form tutor and access to a dedicated pastoral team, alongside our well-being provision. We watch academic progress and happiness together, and we work closely with parents so that any concern is picked up early and supported.
