Year 10 PSHE Clothes Swap Marks Earth Day

Posted: 27th April 2026

To celebrate and acknowledge Earth Day on 22 April, Year 10 pupils took part in a clothes swap as part of their PSHE curriculum, exploring the environmental and social impact of fast fashion.

The session encouraged students to think critically about consumption, waste and sustainability, while demonstrating how small, practical actions can make a positive difference. By exchanging pre-loved items rather than buying new ones, pupils gained a clearer understanding of how clothing choices can reduce environmental harm and promote more sustainable habits.

The event also highlighted the importance of community. Pupils worked together in a positive, inclusive atmosphere, sharing items and stories, and appreciating the value of reuse. Many commented on how refreshing it felt to see clothing given a second life rather than discarded.

Staff joined in too, with a parallel clothes swap proving equally popular. Over 100 items of clothing were shared across the day, reinforcing the message that sustainability is a collective responsibility and a whole-school commitment.

The clothes swap was a simple but powerful way to bring learning to life, strengthening environmental awareness while fostering connection and responsibility across the School community.
