Mrs Pudney Delivers Keynote at Imperial College London

Posted: 2nd October 2025

We are proud to share that Mrs Ann Pudney, one of our dedicated Physics teachers, was invited to deliver a keynote talk at Imperial College London to this year’s Communicating Physics cohort. Her session focused on “Effective Teaching and Classroom Management,” drawing on her own experience as both a teacher and a former participant in the programme.

Mrs Pudney’s continued involvement with Imperial College is a testament to her passion for Physics education and her commitment to inspiring the next generation of educators. Below, she shares her reflections on the day:

“On Monday, 29th September, I had the privilege of delivering a Keynote talk entitled “Effective Teaching and Classroom Management” to this year’s Communicating Physics cohort at Imperial College London.

After a rigorous application process, twenty Physics undergraduates from the 2nd and 3rd year are enrolled onto a course as part of their degree to learn about and practice delivering high-quality Physics sessions for secondary school pupils, whether that be through delivering short sessions in a classroom or a co-curricular activity.

Having been one of the very first cohorts to take part in the programme myself at Imperial College, it is a great honour to have been asked back to give advice on what makes a compelling lesson, with a focus on quality learning and teaching.

Every year, I am very impressed by the enthusiasm and excitement that these undergraduates have towards teaching Physics to younger students, and I am really looking forward to working with our assigned undergraduate from December!”
