A-level Results 2022

Posted: 18th August 2022

Our heart-felt congratulations go to all our A-level students this year. They are celebrating outstanding successes across the board with over 44% of results at A* grade, over 78% A*-A grade and over 95% A*-B grade.

Over 91% will be heading off to their first-choice university and further to this we have maintained our success rate of successful applications to Russell Group and Times Top 10 Universities, and medical or dental schools with 95% of students heading to these prestigious destinations. This is despite a more challenging year for competitive entry courses. The remainder of our students are heading off to study at international universities and some of the most prestigious drama schools, conservatoires and art colleges.

Specific subject highlights include eight subjects (German, Latin, Philosophy, Dance, D&T Product Design, Music, Drama & Theatre Studies and Russian) which all achieved 100% A*-A. A further 15 subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Politics, English Literature, Fine Art, French, Spanish, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Geography, Physical Education) all achieved over 70% of all results at A*-A.

“Despite the challenging and changing educational environment for our students over the last two years, our students and staff have worked tirelessly throughout to ensure the absolute best outcomes for our students, and this has been rewarded with such fantastic results.

These students leave Surbiton High School, not only with the grades they need for their next steps but fully equipped for their future ahead of them through the amazing support of our well-being, academic, careers and UCAS teams. They have discovered their passions and interests through an amazing array of subjects and co-curricular opportunities during their time at Surbiton High School and they can now embark on their next steps fully prepared.”

Jon Owen, Director of Sixth Form, stated:

“We are delighted that the effort and dedication that our students have shown is reflected in their outcomes. Each and every student has faced their own challenges over the past two years and these are amazing results. There is great breadth of variety in the courses that our students will be going on to study and our co-curricular and subject breadth allows pupils to explore their passions, whilst our award-winning careers and UCAS support programmes allow students to also benefit from fantastic university and higher education pathways.”
