Sport

The girls experience specialist teaching for PE and Games. Games lessons for Key Stage Two take place at our impressive playing fields at Hinchley Wood and Games for Key Stage One and PE are taught in the school hall. The curriculum covers the sports of Netball, Hockey, Football, Rounders and Tennis. Teams are selected for the regular fixtures that take place, but all girls have the opportunity to play in a team and represent their House in inter-house competitions.  The girls are also taught Gymnastics, Athletics, Cross Country, Dance, Health Related Fitness and Team Building.

In addition to their Games and PE lessons, girls have a half-hour swimming lesson weekly throughout the year, from Year 1 to Year 3. Girls in Reception will start swimming lessons in the Summer Term. Groups are small and based on ability levels within age groups. During their lessons, the girls build water confidence and move from teaching based in a small, shallow learners' pool, to a full-sized 25 metre pool. Lessons are run by a specialist teaching team and follow the National Plan for Teaching Swimming and children are awarded certificates from Level 1 to 7 from this scheme, following ongoing assessments by their teachers.

On occasions throughout the year, there are opportunities for inter-house or inter-school competitions or swimming galas, which aim to boost girls' confidence and enjoyment of the sport.
