Athletics

Athletics and cross-country running are part of the Physical Education curriculum with all pupils participating in a block of lessons from Years 7 to 9 and then as an option in Years 10 to 13.

Athleticism – running, jumping and throwing are the foundation for all sports and a positive early start underpins a lifetime of physical activity and helps to prevent injury by learning good form and technique. We follow England Athletics 365 and Schools Athletics, run, jump, throw in our lessons and coaching.

Facilities

The Athletics club takes place over three nights in the Summer Term at our local track Weir Archer, Kingsmeadow. Running Club operates throughout the year with the help of a group of dedicated teachers.

Competitions

We enter many competitions including the English School’s competitions that lead to National finals. The Borough events have a pathway to County events and then school competitions hosted by local schools. Many of our pupils join local Athletics clubs to specialise in areas of strength.

Achievements

We achieve success at local, Borough, Regional and County levels. We have links with Kestrels Athletics Club based at Weir Archer. Several of our pupils compete for their Borough in the London Mini-marathon each year.
