Poplar Regatta and Thames Ditton Regatta

Posted: 22nd May 2026

Poplar Regatta

Poplar Regatta, one of the premier side-by-side 2000-meter races, serves as an excellent preparation ahead of the National Schools Regatta. The event boasts a stunning backdrop of Canary Wharf’s skyscrapers, the historic Docklands, and London City Airport.
Our J16 crew raced well into tricky headwind conditions, securing a win and gaining valuable race experience ahead of next weekend’s National Schools Regatta.
The J15 girls’ 1st VIII also competed alongside our J16 VIII, achieving an impressive 2nd place.
In the J16 four, competing in the J18 category against a highly competitive field, the crew performed admirably and finished 4th in the final.
For our J14 1st and 2nd Octopull crews, this was their first experience racing side by side over a 2000-meter course. Both crews delivered fantastic, close racing, finishing 2nd and 4th in the final.

Thames Ditton Regatta

Surbiton High School rowers enjoyed valuable racing experience at Thames Ditton Regatta alongside Hampton Court Palace. J15 crews competed strongly against first eights from other schools, while the J14 crews impressed in both on-water and ergometer racing. The regatta provided exciting side-by-side competition and excellent preparation for the season ahead
