Thinking about a place at our Boys’ Prep for September 2027? Whether your son is starting school for the first time or joining us in Year 3, here is what you need to know, and when. It is worth putting the dates in your diary now, as the 7+ registration deadline falls on the day School returns after half-term.
Our Boys’ Prep welcomes boys from Reception to Year 6 across two sites, on Maple Road and Avenue Elmers, with a warm, nurturing ethos at the heart of everything we do.
Reception entry, September 2027
Our Reception process is designed to be gentle and welcoming for four-year-olds. It follows four simple steps:
- Apply: submit your completed application form with the £200 application fee (£250 for overseas applicants).
- Stay and Play: your son is invited to a relaxed Stay and Play session, so we can get to know him and he can get to know us.
- Offer: formal offers are made after the session.
- Accept: return your acceptance form and deposit to secure a confirmed place.
Once a class reaches its maximum size, further applicants are added to a waiting list, so we recommend applying early. We also have a limited number of Reception places available for this academic year; please contact our admissions team if you would like to find out more.
Year 3 (7+) entry, September 2027
Year 3 is a natural point to join, as boys move into Key Stage 2 and on to a wider range of subjects and responsibilities.
- 12 noon, Monday 2 November 2026: registration deadline (application fee £200, or £250 for overseas applicants)
- Thursday 19 November 2026: assessment and taster day
The assessment covers mathematics (number operations, fractions and shapes) and English (reading aloud, creative writing and comprehension). On the same day, boys spend time in our classrooms, giving them a real feel for life at the Boys’ Prep. We will also ask your son’s current school for a report.
If an offer is made, your place is secured by returning the acceptance paperwork and a non-refundable deposit by BACS.
Other year groups
Occasional places become available in other year groups. Complete our enquiry form and our admissions team will let you know what is available; boys joining at these points sit an age-appropriate assessment.
