What the 11+ assessment involves
Our assessment is designed to help us understand each girl’s academic ability, curiosity and potential, as well as her confidence and approach to learning. It has three parts:
- English (50 to 60 minutes): an online comprehension and a handwritten creative writing task, both based on a single unseen text.
- Mathematics (30 minutes): number, shape, space, measurement and data handling. No calculator is allowed, so confident times tables really help.
- Interview: a friendly conversation with senior staff in a small group of up to three candidates. No preparation is needed.
Girls at our Girls’ Prep are guaranteed a place in Year 7, but still take part in the assessment and interview. We also welcome applications for Year 9 (13+) entry; please contact our admissions team on 020 8439 1329 for details. For more on the process, read our recent article, Your 11+ Questions Answered.
