The penultimate SCOPE day of the year

Posted: 10th June 2026

As inspired by an article published in the Guardian last year exploring the rise of “cosy hobbies” amongst Gen Z, Year 7 engaged in an exciting SCOPE day spread across two weeks of PSHE lessons. Our goal was to support our students ahead of their first summer assessment week by conducting some slightly more creative but still practical activities.
In this time, our students attended a talk about stress management from two members of our Counselling Team, Debbie Shepherd and Rike Jones, a chair yoga session with Chemistry and Yoga Teacher, Mrs Nicky Osmond, and also spent time with their form groups completing screen-free crafts.
We saw some excellent friendship bracelets, keyrings and origami being made! We hope that our students enjoyed the opportunity to destress before their Assessment Week and to also learn something new that they can take forward, be it a newfound interest in yoga or friendship bracelets to share.
