On Saturday, 25 April, the Music Department held its Spring Choral & Orchestral Concert at Smith Square Hall in London. Bringing together performers from right across the School community – the Senior School, Girls’ Prep, Boys’ Prep, and Choral Society of parents and alumnae – the concert was a real celebration of music-making at Surbiton High School.
Choirs from each of the schools performed a diverse range of ambitious repertoire, from Renaissance polyphony to modern pop-fusion; and Nina H, in her final concert after seven years at the Senior School, gave a sensational performance of Weber’s Clarinet Concertino accompanied by the School orchestra. For the final piece, everyone joined forces for a glorious rendition of Brahms’s choral masterpiece Schicksalslied.
