A journalist from the Girls’ Prep shared her day-to-day journal during her time in Austria for the Ski Trip.
Day 1
We have spent the entire day travelling , and we are all exhausted. After arriving at school at 5 am, full of excitement and nerves, we rode the bus to London Gatwick for an 8:30 flight to Salzburg before taking another bus to Altenmarkt, the village we were staying in. Once we arrived, we met the main instructor, Timmy, tried our boots on and spent some time in our dorms, excited for the adventure ahead.
Day 2
Today was our first day of skiing, but also the first day putting on our boots and skis and taking the bus up to the ski resort. However, the views were beautiful, snowy pines and rocky mountains as far as the eye can see. We met our brilliant instructors and were put into groups that suited our ability, and some people tried skiing for the first time. Everyone loved it.
After skiing, we went to a bowling alley with a dart board and a pool table and spent around an hour having fun with our friends. It was great fun! We had a proper Austrian dinner that evening- schnitzel and beef soup- before having an early night.
Day 3
By today, everyone was skiing down the mountain. In my opinion, there is almost nothing better than the exhilarating feeling of whizzing down a steep slope at top speed with friends. Our afternoon activity today was a fun snowy treasure hunt in the local park. I made the first snowman of the year and named him Pinocchisnow!
Day 4
After skiing, we had a quiz night and a surprise bin bag fashion show, where we were split into groups and dressed one model in clothes made of bin bags. That model then took part in a catwalk, and the winner was decided. The groups were judged on their teamwork, and the models were judged on their sass. The winning team received a massive pack of sweets. The whole thing was enormous fun and was greatly enjoyed by everyone.

Day 5
Today we went shopping at the local supermarket. It was sweets galore! We had 10 euros to spend and then had big feasts over the next few days.
Day 6
The snow was amazing today- thick and powdery. It was perfect for the final day snowball fight! We then had a drink in a small restaurant up the mountain, before skiing down the mountain, full of smiles and hot chocolate.
For dinner, we went across the road to a pizza restaurant for an awards ceremony with our ski instructors. The whole thing was brilliant, and a perfect end to a perfect trip.
Day 7
Today was another travel day, like day one in reverse. This time, though, we were excited to see our parents and had made many memories.
