“A Night With Dracula” was a remarkable celebration of Year 6 oracy, inspired by David Calcutt’s high‑level adaptation of Dracula, which challenged the boys’ thinking and creativity. Throughout the evening, they shared powerful, emotionally resonant poems, thoughtful reflective essays, and witty satirical pieces that showed real confidence and humour. Every word was entirely their own. With nothing pre‑written for them and no scripts to memorise, they were free to shape their ideas independently, allowing each performance to reflect their authentic voice.

The expert panel stayed fully in role, responding with impressive improvisation that added depth, insight, and personality to the discussion. As the night unfolded, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense, heightened by the dramatic scenes the boys had devised themselves. Their originality, hard work, and expressive performances came together to create an outstanding showcase of their developing skills as writers and speakers.
