Boys’ Prep Year 6 Dracula Evening

Posted: 8th February 2024

Dracula night occurred on Wednesday, 24 January when the Year 6 boys played out scenes from Dracula, the play script that we worked on in English, throughout the Autumn Term.

We worked hard alongside Mrs Watkins and our English teachers to bring together a collection of scenes and pieces inspired by our reading. The lights went down, and the gothic atmosphere enveloped all who were present. The performance included scenes from the play, satirical pieces that the boys had written themselves in lessons and rather dodgy heavy northern accents.

The boys also wrote speeches exploring the various different power struggles in the play, and we had heartfelt letters from Jonathon Harker to the love of his life, Mina. It was a great night for pupils and the audience of parents, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed the night’s entertainment and were blown away by their talented sons.

We interviewed Mr Temlett (Teacher of Year 6), and this is what he said: “I thought it was exceptional and I loved it”. After that he followed up with “I was so impressed with how the boys worked so well together”.

I think everyone agreed that The Dracula Evening was excellent.
