The whole culture is one where all staff and pupils contributions to the school are valued. Staff are supportive and friendly and I certainly made the right decision to come and work at SHS.

Richard, Prep Teacher

The staff are incredible: hugely impressive, positive, dynamic, friendly, and this creates a very special buzz about the place. We are given the freedom to be creative in our own ways of teaching but equally we benefit from the support framework to ensure we excel.

Stuart, Deputy Head of English

SHS has a vibrant atmosphere with a delightful and erudite staff. There is a real sense of caring and purpose in the many buildings and departments.

Bee, Teacher of English

Being part of a community as big as SHS is quite special; we look out for one another and ensure that – to be the best we can be in our setting – we support one another to give the pupils the best education we can provide.

Sally, Deputy Head

SHS is a fantastic place to work, with an Inspiring Head and Leadership Team, and supportive friendly culture.

Jen, Personal Assistant

I feel proud to work at SHS. I love the culture, the people, and everything the School stands for.

Jen, Personal Assistant

There is wonderful, friendly atmosphere and I enjoy coming into work. Everyone, at all levels, is approachable and always willing to help.

Adam, Prep Teacher

Everyone looks out for each other and there is a camaraderie amongst colleagues. It is like being part of a big family!

Hannah, Prep Teacher

I have chosen bespoke CPD pathways which suit my interest and career goals; I’ve benefited from 1:1 coaching, and been awarded successive promotions & new roles that continually keep me excited and newly challenged in my roles.

Stuart, Head of English

SHS has supported me in making use of my wide skillset, to grow the breadth of my role, and get involved in areas outside of the original day remit. This has given me more opportunity to learn more about the school and how it operates, develop my skills and feel rewarded in my role.

Jen, Personal Assistant

SHS has allowed me to aim high in terms of my career path and has offered excellent internal and external CPD.  The SLT operates an “open door” policy which is great for exploring issues and solutions.

Geillis, Head of MFL

I started in 2003 as part time admin support, 17 years later I am Head of Exams, Head of Year and I run Young Enterprise. SHS has given me every opportunity to grow within the School.

Kate, Head of Exams & Head of Year 12/13

We are a School that actively seeks the strengths of each individual and provides them with the skills, techniques and knowledge to grow academically, emotionally and socially.

Sally, Deputy Head
