Year 11 Pupils win NewsQuest Young Reporters Project

Posted: 20th May 2024

The NewsQuest Young Reporters project, a prestigious journalistic work experience initiative, spans from September to April, offering an immersive real-life experience for pupils across London and the Home Counties. Each year, hundreds, if not thousands, of pupils participate, engaging in all aspects of journalism. This includes conceiving ideas, conducting research, interviewing, photographing, writing, editing, and uploading their articles, all while adhering to strict deadlines.

Surbiton High School is proud to announce that two of its pupils, Hannah E and Lara D, both in Year 11, have been nominated as outstanding winners of this rigorous competition. Their commitment and professionalism have set them apart, earning them this distinguished recognition.

As part of their reward, Hannah and Lara will attended a journalism and publishing course at Kingston University on Saturday. The results, revealing the specific categories in which they have triumphed, will be announced at the Annual Awards ceremony, often referred to as the Young Reporters’ ‘Oscars’, in June.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Hannah and Lara on their remarkable achievement!
