Former Pupil Shakti Maragh Chosen as a Local Hero

Posted: 25th February 2022

We were delighted to welcome Shakti Maragh (Class of 1990) back to school this week to meet the artists, Abby and Annabelle, who will lead on the community art project to create seven works of art representing the people who have made a positive impact in the community. Other artists from several schools in the Borough of Kingston upon Thames will come together at the end of March for a day to work on the art pieces, and these will be exhibited at Tolworth Station in the spring. Shakti was nominated at the end of 2021 and chosen as one of seven local heroes by Community Brain for “kindness and care towards others which made a difference” during lockdown. This was because of her online Neal’s Yard Remedies Organic workshops that helped people feel less isolated, her fundraising for charities and local organisations, and support of local NHS staff.

We are very proud of Shakti for being chosen as a “local hero” and look forward to seeing the artworks once they have been completed. This is clear evidence of a former pupil continuing to follow our school motto, “May love always lead us”.
