The Return of Clubs at the Girls’ Prep

Posted: 15th June 2021

The return of clubs has been a great success this term.

Reception have had their first clubs being offered to them with a Lunchtime Craft Club, and the famous Mrs Catlin’s Skipping Club. Music clubs have been a great success too; children have been able to enjoy the full range of clubs going ahead, with Mr Wray and his team creating the next Bach! Miss Blackwood has started a new craze with Athletics Clubs for KS1 in the morning and afternoon, with the girls learning the fundamental skills that are needed for the range of sports we cover here at Surbiton. Debating Club has also been a standout success with the Year 6s with learning how to structure an argument and to stand up for what you believe in!

Skipping Club Makes A Return

Skipping Club has also made a return with Mrs Caitlin and Mrs Mackenzie! Although it was very windy outside, all of the girls enjoyed learning the basic skills of this very traditional skill.

First they warmed up with arm and shoulder exercises, then practised jumping with two feet together before trying with the skipping rope. By week two, some of the girls could skip one or two times with the rope.

We are sure they all will have conquered skipping by the end of the term.

Keep practising at home, girls!
