Skiing Pre-Season

We will be running a Skiing Workshop on Wednesday 26 June 2024 at Sandown Snowsports Centre, More Lane, Esher, KT10 8AN, from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. The session will be free of charge; however, spaces are limited and are assigned on a first come, first served basis.

This session will be for pupils joining Year 7 in September 2024 who can already ski and are looking to join the school Ski Club when they start. Pupils must be able to snowplough, stop and turn confidently and be able to use the poma ski lift independently.

Pupils will need to be dropped at Sandown at their allocated time (to be confirmed by email after bookings close) so that they can meet the ski staff and sort their equipment before the session starts. Parents are very welcome to stay and watch the session.

The following equipment will be provided by the slope: skis, boots, poles, and helmets. However, if you have any of your own equipment and would rather use that, please do bring it along.

Pupils will need to wear long sleeves and long trousers, as well as gloves or mittens to access the slope.

If you are unsure whether your child meets the criteria and should attend the session, please contact Miss Archbold, Head of Skiing, at taryn.archbold@surbitonhigh.com.

Co-curricular Ski Club

In addition to the above, we have Ski Club options available for pupils of all abilities as part of the co-curriculum programme:

  • Recreational Ski Club, for those pupils who want to improve their skills through weekly instruction.
  • Development Ski, for those who are intermediate to advanced skiers and would like to get into racing.
  • Race Squad, for those pupils who have previous experience of racing and want to develop further.
  • Performance Squad, for Scholarship pupils and those who attend an external ski club and are committed to representing the School in competitions on both dry slope and snow.

Pupils will have the option to sign up for these clubs at the Co-curricular Fair at the start of the Autumn Term.
