On Saturday 7 February, more than 80 members of our School community came together for our annual Action Breaks Silence workshop — a powerful and inspiring event that continues to be one of the many impactful elements within our Well-being programme.
Action Breaks Silence is an internationally recognised prevention charity dedicated to creating a world where women and girls can live free from male violence. Their work is rooted in education, empowerment, and the belief that young people can be agents of change in building safer communities.
This year’s workshop offered a rich and engaging experience for both pupils and parents:
Empowering Pupils Through Education
Pupils in Years 7–9 took part in a specially designed session exploring:
- The different types of abuse young people may encounter
- How these behaviours can manifest, both online and offline
- Strategies for recognising unsafe situations and seeking support
The workshop encouraged thoughtful conversation and strengthened pupils’ confidence in understanding their rights, boundaries, and personal safety.

Inspiring Parents With Expert Insight
Parents attended a compelling talk delivered by Debi Steven, founder and CEO of Action Breaks Silence. Her session provided powerful insight into:
- The realities of violence against women and girls
- How communities can work together to challenge harmful behaviours
- The importance of equipping young people with preventative knowledge
A Collaborative, Hands‑On Experience
The morning concluded with an energising combined workshop, where pupils and parents joined forces to learn practical self‑defence skills. The session was highly interactive, fostering confidence, resilience, and shared learning between families.
We are really grateful that we have a long-established connection with this charity and value the opportunity to work with Debi and her team.
