Girls’ Prep Teaching & Learning

At Surbiton Girls’ Preparatory School, our child-centred approach nurtures curiosity, independence and a genuine love of learning. Our enriched curriculum goes beyond the National Curriculum, offering creative, cross-curricular experiences that inspire pupils and deepen their understanding of the world.

Through our whole-school Mastery approach, girls explore key concepts in depth and are encouraged to take increasing ownership of their learning. Our Learning Powers underpin all teaching, helping pupils develop resilience, initiative, collaboration and reflective thinking; essential skills for lifelong learning.

Learning extends far beyond the classroom through trips, workshops and residential experiences that build independence, confidence and curiosity. At Surbiton, learning is an adventure; interactive, joyful and full of possibility. Our aim is simple: to equip every girl with the knowledge, skills and learning behaviours she needs to thrive.

We look forward to welcoming you to our School to experience our dynamic and inspiring learning environment first-hand.

“Our focus is on providing every girl with rich, high-quality learning experiences that nurture curiosity, build confidence and develop the skills and learning behaviours she needs to thrive.”

Our teachers are highly skilled practitioners who tailor learning to the needs and interests of each girl. In the younger years, pupils benefit from the consistency of a dedicated class teacher and the support of a qualified Teaching Assistant, alongside specialist teaching in Music, Languages and PE. As they progress through the School, girls enjoy further specialist teaching in subjects including Mathematics, English, Computing, Art and Science, enriching their experience and deepening subject expertise.

Strong partnerships with families, including regular workshops, help parents feel confident in supporting their daughter’s education.
