OUR NEWLY APPOINTED JOURNALIST, AMELIE (6P) INTERVIEWED HER PEERS ABOUT BEING A BUDDY

Posted: 19th November 2020

Our newly appointed journalist, Amelie (6P), participated in a recent event for Year 6 and their buddies. She decided to interview her peers to ask them how they felt about being a buddy. Year 6 have been so creative in how they can interact with Reception, despite current restrictions.  Amelie arranged a socially distanced meeting with her own buddy, who loved seeing Amelie in our sensory area for a chat, and to answer questions with her.

Mia (6P)

Question: What did you think about meeting your buddy?
Answer: Lovely. It was amazing.

Question: Do you think that being a buddy is a big responsibility?
Answer: Yes, because they are sort of a little sister and you need to show them around the School and you need to teach them stuff.

Question: Do you remember what it felt like to be in Reception?
Answer: I do remember perfectly!

Question: How did you use that experience to know how to help your buddy by talking to her?
Answer: I used that experience to know what to do and what not to do from observing what my Year 6 buddy was doing.

Freya (6P)

Question: What did you think about meeting your buddy?
Answer: I thought it was fun and cool.

Question: Do you think that being a buddy is a big  responsibility?
Answer: Yes I do, because you have a younger child who is coming to the School and you have to teach them the right and wrong.

Question: What did it feel like to be in Reception? Do you think about that when you talk to your buddy?
Answer:  I know that I should be gentle with her and take it in small steps.
