Wheelchair Tennis Inspires During Sports Aid Week

Posted: 27th March 2026

As part of Sports Aid Week, boys at Surbiton High Boys’ Prep School enjoyed an unforgettable opportunity to experience the exciting world of wheelchair tennis, inspired by Wimbledon champion Alfie Hewett.

During the session, pupils developed their skills by learning how to manoeuvre the chairs at speed before putting their reactions and coordination to the test on court. The experience gave pupils a valuable insight into the athleticism, precision and determination required to compete in wheelchair tennis at the highest level.

It was a truly inspiring experience and a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusive sport.

We are incredibly grateful to Alfie Hewett for his role in championing wheelchair tennis and helping to make the sport more visible and accessible to young people.

Alongside this exciting event, the whole school has also been taking part in our ambitious 500km challenge in support of SportsAid. Thanks to the fantastic efforts of both pupils and staff, we are already more than halfway towards our goal.

There is still time to support this wonderful charity. If you would like to help us reach the finish line, we would be very grateful for your support. Donate here. Watch the boys in action on Instagram.
