As part of our Community Classrooms for 2026, and following its huge success last year, we were delighted to welcome back the Royal Institution for a seventh year. In March, the Ri’s Science in Schools programme set up their spectacular showcase in the Assembly Rooms to deliver their show, Fuelling The Future.

The fun-filled, pyrotechnic presentations inspire pupils by exploding theory into life ahead of National Science Week. The shows were relished by Surbiton pupils from Years 5-9, as well as from a wide variety of schools from around our borough. In six shows across three days, over 1600 pupils were thrilled and enthralled by the exciting experiments as they learnt about the significance of sustainability in our world. These wonderful educational shows are provided thanks to the generosity of Surbiton High School’s Parents’ Association. More fun-fuelled education, sustaining a vital love for learning among our young scientists.
