As part of our focus on preparing students for the future, Surbiton High School recently launched a special cooking initiative for our Year 13 pupils. In collaboration with the Sixth Form Team, Year 12 and Year 13 teachers, and members of the Senior Leadership Team, we compiled a selection of favourite recipes into a bespoke recipe booklet.

The booklet, designed as a thoughtful leaving gift for our Year 13 students, features a wide variety of dishes, from overnight oats and pancakes to flatbreads, chicken fajitas, lentil curry, and a classic Victoria sponge. Students were given the booklet before half term and invited to put their culinary skills to the test by cooking one or more recipes.

Those who participated were entered into a prize draw, with winners announced in tomorrow’s Year 13 assembly. Congratulations to Hannah GJ and Emily M, who each won a wok and cooking utensils for their efforts.
This initiative not only celebrated creativity and practical skills but also encouraged students to explore independence in the kitchen, preparing them for life beyond School.
