Surbiton High School is delighted to announce that United Learning have purchased buildings at Harts Boatyard in Surbiton. It will become the home of the School’s highly successful rowing programme and an additional base for its outstanding sports provision.
A five-minute walk from the School, the new facilities will offer significant convenience and ease of use. The School’s intention is to refurbish and adapt the site to provide a perfect base for pupils to train, both on the water, and for land training through, in due course, providing a large fitness space, conditioning gym, changing rooms and boat storage. In doing so it will provide additional gym space for all sports at the School.

Sport is at the heart of Surbiton High School and is a core area of excellence, with our teams holding over 75 national titles over the past 3 years in its Super Eight Sports (cricket, football, gymnastics, hockey, netball, rowing, skiing and tennis). Surbiton High is proud to have the largest girls’ rowing programme in the UK, alongside being the top girls’ school for hockey and tennis and the holder of 8 national football titles in 2024/25.
Principal, Mr Shoults stated: “This significant investment in our sporting facilities will provide an ideal base for our pupils to train and is a welcome addition to our 39-acre sports ground at Hinchley Wood and our current boathouse in Teddington.”
