Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

Posted: 25th February 2026

Our School was proud to mark National Apprenticeship Week with a range of activities designed to highlight the breadth of opportunities available through apprenticeship pathways.

Students received a special bulletin dedicated to apprenticeships, outlining key information and showcasing routes across a wide range of industries. Our careers magnetic board focused on how different apprenticeship pathways link directly to curriculum subjects, helping students to see the clear connections between their studies and future career options.

A particular highlight of the week was a Year 11 PSHE session, followed by a lunchtime talk to Sixth Formers featuring former student Molly G, who chose to pursue an apprenticeship with IBM as a Junior Management Consultant. Molly was supported by the School in applying to both apprenticeships and university, eventually choosing her apprenticeship over an offer from Durham University. Molly has since gone on to win a prestigious National Apprentice of the Year award. Her journey provided an inspiring example of the exciting and successful pathways available through apprenticeships.  She now works across the world advising companies, having only left Surbiton High School in 2023.

Following this session, students were tasked with researching apprenticeship opportunities with leading employers, including the BBC, Rolls-Royce and Linklaters, broadening their understanding of the diverse sectors offering high-quality apprenticeship programmes.

The week’s Careers and HE Bulletin focused on Apprenticeships. To find out more about apprenticeships and the opportunities available, visit the National Apprenticeship Week website.
