Surbiton’s netball teams delivered an excellent performance at the recent Harrodian Tour, showcasing determination, skill, and teamwork across all age groups. The U13s and U15s both secured fourth place finishes, while the U12s impressed with a strong third place result. The highlight of the day came from the 1st VII Seniors and the U14s, who each claimed first place, capping off a memorable tournament for the School.
Harrodian U18 Netball Tournament Report
The U18 squad produced a superb display of skill and resilience throughout the day. They began in dominant form, winning all four of their pool games with confidence and control.
The semifinal against Kingston Grammar School proved to be a tense, end-to-end contest, but the girls held their nerve, edging a one-goal victory to secure their place in the final.
Facing Latimer in the final, the team battled through a tightly contested, goal-for-goal match. In the second half, Goal Attack Kate Monk was forced off with injury, prompting Abigail Smart to step in from Wing Defence and Fehintola Rotowa to cover at WD. With just one minute remaining, the score was tied at 6–6. A crucial defensive turnover gave Surbiton possession, and the team showed great composure to retain the ball before feeding it into the circle. Olivia Nafa Garcia de la Fuente calmly converted the winning shot, securing a thoroughly deserved 1st place.
Every player delivered a standout performance, demonstrating the exceptional talent and versatility of the squad.
Harrodian U14 Netball Tournament Report
The U14 squad also shone brightly, delivering an outstanding performance. After cruising through their pool with five confident wins, they progressed to the semifinal, where they defeated Ibstock Place 13–7.
The final against Godolphin & Latimer proved to be a nail-biter. Goal for goal throughout, the teams were locked at 7–7 at full time, triggering the tense ‘Golden Goal’ decider. With possession from the centre pass, the girls showed composure and teamwork, moving the ball seamlessly to goal, where Molly Ingram scored the decisive shot.
The squad secured a well-deserved 1st place finish out of 12 schools, with stand-out performances from every player—a testament to their talent, versatility, and determination.
