Surbiton High School Awarded Centre of Excellence Status by Leadership Skills Foundation

Posted: 28th November 2025

Surbiton High School is proud to announce that it has been awarded Centre of Excellence status for the 2025/26 academic year by the Leadership Skills Foundation. This prestigious recognition highlights our commitment to integrating leadership development throughout our curriculum and the wider School community.

The Leadership Skills Foundation works with over 2,500 centres annually, yet only 42 were selected for this honour in the coming academic year. Surbiton High’s achievement reflects the dedication of our staff and pupils in creating meaningful opportunities to develop essential skills for life and work.

Our application showcased schemes of work, lesson plans, resources, pupil intervention protocols, evidence from our multi-skills festival, and testimonials from local primary schools. Together, these demonstrated the positive impact of our leadership programme on learners.

Richard Norman, Chief Executive of the Leadership Skills Foundation, said:

“We are delighted to award Surbiton High School with Centre of Excellence status for the coming academic year. We believe that every young person should have access to opportunities to develop the skills they need to positively influence their future and their communities.”

Kara Vass, Assistant Director of Sport, added:

“This recognition reflects our mission to empower pupils with the confidence to believe, the qualities to lead, and the skills to succeed. We are excited to build on this success and continue to expand opportunities for leadership development across our School!”

Surbiton High looks forward to strengthening its leadership pathways and inspiring even more pupils to thrive as future leaders.
