This season of compassion has highlighted the many ways our pupils show kindness. From simple daily gestures to thoughtful acts of care, their generosity and empathy have lit up our School community.
Our Year 6 journalists share their experiences:
Compassionate Fortnight is all about the little acts of kindness: holding the door for a peer, smiling as friends walk by, or simply spending quality time together. Odd Socks Day is a huge part of the fortnight, symbolising the importance of celebrating diversity not only within Surbiton High, but across the wider world. These small acts may seem simple, but they can make a big difference. Remember to be kind!

The fortnight began on Monday 10 November with Odd Socks Day, where each student showcased their individuality through their own unique style. The following day, pupils took part in the Remembrance Service – one of the most special and important events of the year. Later in the week, we painted kindness pebbles and exchanged ‘Caught Being Kind’ cards. These cards helped form small pen pal groups, encouraging us to express appreciation for one another. Parents will soon be invited to see how these small activities have raised extraordinary levels of compassion throughout our school.

As part of Compassionate Week, the Prep Schools also celebrated Odd Socks Day – and what a wonderful day it was! Socks of every shape, size, colour, and pattern filled the School with creativity. It was a fantastic way to celebrate individuality and raise awareness about the importance of standing up to bullying, while embracing the spirit of Compassionate Fortnight
