Surrey Schools Skiing Competition

Posted: 17th November 2025

On Sunday, 16 November, the Surrey Schools skiing competition was held at Aldershot Ski Centre for the title of best skiing school in Surrey.  Surbiton entered the competition with Emily L, Tessa L, Lewis R, and Hannah H being in a mixed team, and debutants Rose R and Millie B skiing solo.

Emily took the third fastest time of a graceful 11.59 seconds in the female category.  Surbiton came 1st in the mixed Y5–Y6 section and also took gold in the overall mixed teams.  Rose improved her time the most out of the team, with her faster run being 1.10 seconds faster than her slower run.

The prep team came away with:

– Upper Primary Mixed 1st place – Emily, Lewis, Hannah, Tessa (Gold medals)
– Overall Primary Mixed 1st place – Emily, Lewis, Hannah, Tessa (Trophy)
– Upper Primary Female 3rd place – Emily (Bronze medal)

A big shout out to Rose and Millie in Year 5, who were racing for their first time.  It was lovely to see what a great team the Surbiton High School Ski Squad are, with the seniors supporting and helping the younger skiers.

After a successful trip up to Norwich, the Ski Squad were excited to head down to our home slope, Aldershot, to race at Surrey Schools. The Prep School had a successful morning, winning the Upper Primary and overall Primary Mixed categories, making them the best Mixed Primary team in the region. A special shout out to Emily L, who was the third fastest primary female there.

After the successes of the Prep schools in the morning, the senior races were excited to race. All the Surbiton skiers had an amazing performance showing great sportsmanship and teamwork. Supporting each other outstandingly both on and off the hill, with Surbiton, again, being the loudest cheering crowd.

With all racers rising to the occasion, the junior female racers (Year 7 to 9) performed incredibly well, with the A team coming 1st and the B team coming 3rd. As well as 5 of the Surbiton Skier’s finishing in the top 10. Well done to the Year 9 Scholars Isabella W, who came 2nd, and Sophie J, who came 3rd. The female seniors had some amazing runs with the A team coming 1st and winning fastest female team.

Well done to the 5 Surbiton skiers finishing in the top 10, with Saskia S coming 2nd and Immy M coming 3rd.The team stepped up this weekend and performed exceptionally well, with both categories being won by Surbiton and therefore the team becoming regional champions!
