We are thrilled to share that Edith T, a 17-year-old student at Surbiton High Sixth Form, has been shortlisted for the prestigious BBC Young Writers’ Award for her story Roast Beef.
Described as “weird and wonderful”, Edith’s darkly humorous tale follows a housewife whose husband’s request for a roast beef lunch triggers an explosive journey of revenge.
Edith, currently in the final year of Sixth Form studying for her A-levels, writes short stories, poetry and scripts influenced by authors such as Roald Dahl, Shirley Jackson and Agatha Christie. She hopes to study English and Modern Languages at university with the ambition of becoming a writer or translator.
Listen to Edith’s short story here. The winner will be announced live on Radio 4’s Front Row at 7.15pm on Tuesday 30 September.
We wish Edith every success in the final stage of the competition!
