Surbiton High School is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of several pupils and a member of staff who have represented their country on the international rowing stage this summer.

Hannah, Class of 2025, achieved an A*, A and B in her A-levels and will go on to study at Durham University. In July, she was selected to cox at the Junior World Rowing Championships in Trakai, Lithuania. After some exceptional racing, Hannah coxed the Women’s Junior 8 to victory, becoming World Champions. She is Surbiton High School’s first ever Junior World Champion Cox – a truly remarkable accomplishment.

Gracie was selected to represent Ireland in the Women’s 4 at the Coupe De La Jeunesse in Linz, Austria. Competing in a highly competitive event, her crew secured 8th place across both days of racing.

Amelia, who achieved an impressive 7 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s and 1 Grade 6 in her GCSEs on 21 August, has had a tremendous year in rowing. As a Year 11 pupil, she took part in the Under 19 Great Britain Rowing Trials and was selected to represent Great Britain in the Women’s 8 at the Coupe De La Jeunesse. Over two days of intense competition, Amelia and her crew delivered dominant performances, winning two Gold Medals.

Rowing Coach Gabby was also selected to coach for Great Britain at the Coupe De La Jeunesse in Linz. Her crew competed fiercely in a demanding field, coming away with two Silver Medals.

These exceptional achievements highlight the dedication, talent and hard work of both our pupils and staff, and Surbiton High School is incredibly proud of their success on the international stage.
