Bright and early on the first Saturday of the Easter holidays, Mrs Osborn, Mrs Crosland and 16 pupils flew out to Barcelona for the Gymnastics Tour. On arrival we were met by Raul, our friendly tour guide, before heading straight to Sabadell Gimnàstic Club for a training session with the Spanish gymnasts. Looking super smart in our new leotards, everybody trained well and enjoyed a new style warm-up with the Sabadell coach.
Afterwards, we checked into our hotel and enjoyed a cooling swim in the outdoor pool!
Day 2 was our competition day. Back at Sabadell, the atmosphere was buzzing, with numerous spectators there to cheer on the gymnasts. This two-way friendly competition was split into age group categories, with Spanish and English gymnasts competing in each. All performed super floor routines and vaults, and we returned with several medals, winning 2 of the 3 categories we entered…

Following presentations and photographs, the Sabadell Club kindly hosted a small banquet with traditional food and a chance for the gymnasts to mingle and make friends. We then headed to Barcelona Zoo for the afternoon, before walking into the town and enjoying some well-deserved ice-creams.
The next day was a whole day of fun and thrills at the Port Aventura Theme Park, followed by a stroll on the beach and a dip in the sea (for some!)
On our final day, we visited the Olympic Museum, then enjoyed a couple of hours chilling in the sunshine on Barcelona beach. We then flew back to Heathrow in the evening, with a bunch of very tired pupils (& staff!)
