On a beautiful sunny day, Year 6 of Surbiton High Girls’ Preparatory School headed down to the Watts Gallery. There, we observed paintings and even took a tour of Mary and George Watts’ house!
We looked at the stunning tiles on the ceiling that Mary handmade and soon after headed to her art studio. Everyone was particularly mesmerised by the completely handmade model of the chapel she built.
We then went to see George Watts’s gallery, which was adorned with excellent paintings. Later, we went to make our own tiles inspired by the ones Mary made. We all thoroughly enjoyed making tiles, but I think we all found it hard to take in the extraordinary work Mary did on the chapel!
