Senior School’s Impressive Jazz and Pop Evening

Posted: 15th June 2023

On Tuesday 13th June, 31 of Surbiton High’s talented musicians joined together to present this year’s second Jazz and Pop Evening. The students brought a real sense of professionalism, class and energy to their performances, providing an exciting and vast array of styles and genres to a highly appreciative audience. The Surbiton Assembly Rooms Main Hall was transformed into an ambient cabaret-style club with drinks and food provided, adding an authentic gig-style ambience. Who needs the O2 Academy or Ronnie Scott’s when you can hear performances like this at Surbiton? The concert was a fitting farewell gig drumming superstar, Siân F, who has contributed a huge amount to the Music Department during her time at Surbiton.

Here are just a few of the comments received after the concert:

“Thank you so much for organising an amazing evening! The summers day, live music, great band and a lovely happy atmosphere. Doesn’t get much better. Surbiton has some seriously good talent!”

“Thank you all so much for last night’s concert – I enjoyed it enormously. The set up and tech were great and the house band were awesome. I’m sure it was a huge amount of work to organise and am really grateful. Lottie had a lot of fun; seeing the other performances really helped her and her friends think about what they might do next time.”

“Firstly, thank you for a wonderful jazz and pop evening last night. The standard overall was very high and we particularly appreciated the efforts made by the house band to accompany everyone.”

“Thank you so much for such a brilliant evening. Such an amazing talent from the band and the girls. Tara really enjoyed her performance too!”
