The Girls’ Prep Years 4, 5 and 6 flew to Altenmarkt im Pongau, Austria for a skiing holiday in the Aki Amade region. With great excitement, we waved goodbye to parents and set off for Heathrow. The girls were just fantastic throughout the whole week – with the British Airways cabin crew, hotel staff, village shop staff and our amazing ski instructors all commenting how impressed they were with the girls’ manners, excitement and the sheer joy they exuded. We were even mistaken for the GB Ski Team who were apparently in the area, the girls impressed that much! Admittedly that was while we were out shopping, not on the slopes, but we will gladly take the compliment! Our skiing days were simply epic, the weather was favourable, almost a little too warm for the first half of the week, but ideal for us all to find our ski legs, and for the beginners especially to gain confidence. It was an absolute joy to see the girls thrive on and off the slopes all week, the year groups mixed beautifully, supported each other in all our activities and were even nominating each other for the daily helmet cover awards. In the first couple of days, there were a few wobbles but these quickly evaporated as the snow fell in the second half of the week, and in the sheer joy of being in the mountains, challenging ourselves and learning how to pick ourselves up from a few falls, dust ourselves down, take a deep breath and go again – invaluable life skills. Our instructors were simply awesome, so brilliant with the girls and incredibly supportive, to the point that by day 4, every single girl was up the mountain and skiing down full runs and looking string stylish and smooth on the way! A simply incredible trip from start to finish, one that is sure to stay with the girls, energise them and fill them with self-confidence for many years to come.
