New Age Kurling

On Tuesday 7 March, five Year 4 pupils participated in the New Age Kurling Borough competition. They competed against three other schools in their pool matches and won all three! Having won their pool, the group faced two schools for a gold, silver, or bronze medal.

Surbiton got off to a positive start winning their first game. The second game proved to be a close call with the opposition winning 1-0. In the end, all three teams in the final had lost one and won one. The three teams were also tied across the board on points against and points for! To decide gold, silver and bronze the final was to be decided by a tie break; this involved one player from each team pushing a stone towards the target. The closest stone to the target takes the win! Annabelle courageously stepped up to the challenge, keeping her composure; she was the only one who landed the stone on the target to win gold! The team now go on to represent Kingston in the London Youth Games.

Congratulations to Ottie, Avani, Isabelle, Kitty and Annabelle. They did the School proud and demonstrated great sportsmanship.

Girls Takeover Day at the Chelsea Ladies Stadium

On what was a cold, wet and windy day, 28 Year 3 and 4 pupils attending an afternoon of workshops hosted by the Chelsea Foundation. The workshops formed part of the ‘Nothing Stops Us’ campaign being championed by Chelsea on International Women’s Day. The pupils engaged in workshops covering mental well-being, technology, movement using yoga and football skills. The weather did not dampen their spirits and they returned to School rather blue!
