Our celebration of National Storytelling Week focused on ‘The Matchbox Diary’ by Paul Fleischman, a story about a young girl who is fascinated by the tales from her great grandfather’s past. Over the last few weeks, the whole of the Girls’ Prep has been captivated by this story and it has been the foundation of some brilliant story writing and storytelling. Using the book as inspiration, the girls created their own matchbox memories from either their own lives or those of a relative. These memories were then used as the basis for their own narrative writing.
Following this, parents were invited in to listen to their daughter’s story, reliving the wonderful memories that have been created by their family.
