Last week, Year 4 got to experience live theatre in the West End, as they attended the musical version of ‘Matilda’ at the Cambridge Theatre in Covent Garden. This superb adaption of the Roald Dahl classic was packed full of amazing special effects, catchy songs, and mind-blowing choreography. What made it even more surprising, was most of the cast were not that much older than the Year 4 boys themselves.
All of this was to get the boys ready for their own production, with rehearsals starting in the Spring Term, leading to the performance at the end of March. ‘Matilda the Musical’ gave them a chance to see what can be achieved and how everyone must work together to produce a fantastic show.
The boys had a great time, and it was a real adventure travelling through Central London and taking in the sights. They particularly loved seeing London lit up at night, having arguably the best view of London from Waterloo Bridge.
The film version of ‘Matilda the Musical’ is out in cinemas now and has been getting five-star reviews from critics, so it might be worth seeing what it is like on the big screen.
