On Saturday 1 – Sunday 2 October, 55 pupils attended the first of two DofE Bronze assessment weekends, based in the Surrey Hills. Over the course of two days, small teams independently navigated over approximately 30km and camped overnight, demonstrating a wide range of expedition skills. There were some fantastic examples of resilience, teamwork and positive attitude in some challenging conditions, particularly overnight in some heavy rain!
Their assessed expedition took place the following weekend, in the Surrey Hills, between Fetcham and Guildford. Pupils had two full days of walking and navigation with expedition rucksacks, and an overnight camp at Birchmere Campsite, on Wisley Common. Despite a freezing cold night, the weather was bright and cheery which made for some excellent conditions for our pupils to complete the expedition part of their awards.
Well done to everyone and thank you to all the Surbiton Staff who supported the trips.
