“The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch”

Posted: 27th May 2022

In their English lessons, the Year 1 boys have been reading ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’; a beautiful story about a lighthouse keeper called Mr Grinling whose lunch is stolen by three pesky seagulls. The boys helped Mr Grinling come up with a plan. The boys have learned about human features of the seaside, sculptures from around the world and, in connection with this story, about lighthouses. A highlight of the topic has no doubt been creating their own clay lighthouses. This required rolling, squeezing, smoothing, joining, carving and finally painting them.
